Birth Doula

My method

I'll support your choices during labor and walk beside you on your path, helping you navigate the trail and encouraging you all the way.

My philosophy

Everyone should be able to make their own choices and have the knowledge to feel confident and supported while doing so.

Your birth

The only opinion that matters during a birth is your own. You are powerful, you are smart, you are capable and you can do hard things.  I'm there to help cheer you on and remember your why and keep your path clear.

Birth planning

What is it?

Birth planning is for those who would like their specific pregnancy, birth and postpartum questions answered, help planning their birth, or finding information and local services, but either do not want full doula services or are not quite sure yet what their journey will be.  Birth planning is very much like a question/answer session or tailored guidance.

Specialized Information

As more of a specialized consultant, I am available to answer your questions, provide you with information, local providers, and other resources that are tailored to your wants and needs.  This can range from information on various procedures or tests, to helping with a birth plan, etc.

Communication Sessions

Communications for birth planning are currently offered over text or email, or in person/virtual meetings.

About Denise

I'm Denise, the owner of DNA Birth Services.  The name came from my very own initials, and I felt it was fitting as DNA is the unique essence of all people and all births.

I grew up in Southeast DC and now reside in California.  I've lived all over in Silicon Valley, the Bay Area and the Sacramento region.  I've since settled in a small town in Colusa County where I'm surrounded by almond orchards and open spaces.  I love the simple, quiet peacefulness that a small town offers.  I have two dogs, Baloo and Sulley, and a cat, Piper-Bella, who are absolutely the best.  In my free time I love to garden, knit and create.

I was drawn to birth work in 2018 and have been completely enthralled with it ever since.  My goal is to become a rural midwife and help those who live in healthcare deserts or low-income areas have a safe environment to birth in.

Nothing brings me more joy than someone feeling fully empowered during their birth experience and fully at peace in their postpartum.  I look forward to helping you achieve this too.
